As doenças crónicas têm consequências a longo prazo na independência dos idosos; as situações de prestação de cuidados surgem para ajudar a proporcionar qualidade de vida e bem-estar. Consequentemente, a prestação de cuidados a longo prazo tem efeitos adversos para os cuidadores, e as redes sociais dos cuidadores são também afectadas de forma crítica. Por este motivo, a estrutura das redes sociais dos cuidadores é explorada através do método de Análise de Redes Sociais (ARS), com uma abordagem de Análise de Redes Pessoais (ARP). Desta forma, analisou-se a estrutura da rede através das chamadas medidas de centralidade, e explorou-se o nível de influência das variáveis do ambiente social que rodeia a pessoa (ego), as variáveis de composição dos atributos alter e as suas relações. Adicionalmente, foi identificado o possível nível de sobrecarga que um cuidador desenvolve como consequência de cuidados prolongados a uma pessoa dependente. Este texto apresenta os resultados dessa análise.
