Through interactive discussions with the students during the trip, the author also engages readers in reflections and conversations spanning geography, history, culture, and religion.作者根据法国作家儒勒•凡尔纳的《八十天环游地球》设计了一条环游全球之路。并带着三位中小学生和两位家长用了26天完成环游全球的挑战，除了乘坐航班外，也体验了福格先生当年的火车、轮船之旅。同时遍历了一路上重要的自然、历史、人文景点。本书呈现了作者旅行经历过的160多张人文风情照片。对照当年福格先生所见，展现了150年后世界的历史变迁，并以在旅行中与中小学生互动的形式，展开涉及地理、历史、文化、宗教等问题的思考和讨论。
