Auf Basis der theoretischen und ökonometrischen Analyse der Arbeitsmarkteffekte der Immigration wird die Selektionswirkung des kanadischen Punktesystems und der Auktionierung von Einwanderungszertifikaten anhand von Simulationen miteinander verglichen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß eine Versteigerung von Einwanderungszertifikaten an einheimische Unternehmen die aus ökonomischen Gesichtspunkten beste Option einer selektiven Einwanderungspolitik darstellt. Das Buch liefert dem Leser umfangreiches Hintergrundmaterial zur Entwicklung der Zuwanderung in die BRD und den geltenden institutionellen Regelungen hinsichtlich der Zuwanderung ausländischer Arbeitskräfte.
