Manuel José de Lara (Huelva, España, 1963) es doctor en Historia por la Universidad de Sevilla y profesor de Historia Moderna de la Universidad de Huelva, estando especializado en Historia cultural de la Ilustración. Es miembro de la Real Academia Sevillana de Buenas Letras. Como poeta ha publicado El libro de las primeras inseguridades (Huelva, 1986), El río detenido (Huelva, 1996), Restos de colección (Málaga, 2020), Libro de familia (Sevilla, 2022) y Retrato apócrifo (Pamplona, 2022). En Pliegos de Yuste: Revista de Cultura, Ciencia y Pensamiento Europeos publicó la colección de poemas A mi padre (2012). Entre otros, ha obtenido en España el Premio Nacional de Poesía Salvador Rueda y el Premio Internacional de Poesía Ciudad de Pamplona. Ahora, con el libro Apenas, obtiene el Premio Internacional de Poesía Juan Ramón Jiménez de Coral Gables.La Fundación Juan Ramón Jiménez se crea con el objetivo de honrar el legado del poeta español y Premio Nobel de Literatura, que vivió en nuestra ciudad; y aquí, en el dolor y la soledad del exilio, nació uno de los libros de poesía más hermosos: Romances de Coral Gables.El Premio Internacional de Poesía Juan Ramón Jiménez de Coral Gables ­tiene como objetivo celebrar la creación poética y la difusión de voces destacadas de la poesía hispánica contemporánea.
