La malattia parodontale è una condizione infiammatoria cronica dei tessuti di supporto del dente, iniziata da biofilm batterici e influenzata da fattori sistemici e dallo stile di vita. La gengivite è limitata alla gengiva, mentre la parodontite si estende in profondità, causando la distruzione dei tessuti e la perdita dei denti.
