It is known that inflammation is a universal reaction of the body to various external and internal damaging factors, which differs in its etiology and pathogenesis, course, local and general manifestations. The strong and persistent nature of inflammation has a negative effect on the functioning of organs and tissues. For this reason, anti-inflammatory drugs are widely used in the treatment of many diseases and pathological conditions. In addition, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are also used to relieve pain and reduce fever. Therefore, they are among the most commonly used drugs.Unfortunately, modern nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs cause various side effects and complications with repeated use. The most common and dangerous of them are gastrointestinal tract injuries (erosion, ulceration, perforation, and death due to severe bleeding). This phenomenon is more common when using nonselective inhibitors of the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzyme and less common when using selective or specific inhibitors.
