Andy the apple as he ventures outside the comfort of his fruit bowl. Leaving his fellow fruits behind, Andy learns the value of independence. He realises his own identity and encounters many life lessons in the outside world.The curriculum, resources and support at Taylors Lakes Secondary College (TLSC) encourages its students to nurture and expand on their talents in many different fields. For a group media project, twenty-four Year 10 students have worked towards creating and publishing this children’s picture book.Elizabeth Cocolaras and her fellow TLSC class mates have developed and utilised their skills in Adobe Illustrator to bring this picture book together. These young student writers, illustrators, collaborators and designers have made their mark. It is important children learn to be independent and develop the necessary skills to function in social situations.Andy’s Adventure Outside the Fruit Bowl is an entertaining story. It teaches children the value of being social, having friends and still being self-reliant. 3
