La protagonista de esta obra es una traductora jubilada, veterana hasta el punto en que algunos la consideran anciana, aunque ella sienta su mente bien lúcida. Es vecina del barrio de Palermo, en Buenos Aires, donde habita un pequeño departamento de la planta baja de un edificio no muy grande, cerca de la comisaría y del inspector Gauna, siempre tan desbordado por el trabajo policial que decide compartir con ella alguna tarea menor, considerando que hace muchos años que reside allí y conoce muchas personas. De este modo y sin quererlo, Andrómaca, que lleva en su nombre la generosidad clásica de la mujer y su voluntad de perseverar, se ve convertida en una auxiliar de indagación de delitos mientras Gauna es ascendido a subcomisario en plena pandemia de COVID 19.
