La décharge d’arc simulée est générée à l’aide d’une source d’alimentation haute tension dans deux électrodes en acier de forme ronde espacées de 5 mm. Cette distance (entre le capteur et la source de décharge d’arc) est fixée à 5 cm. Le thermomètre infrarouge (pistolet laser) a été utilisé pour mesurer la température de l’huile isolante en envoyant un rayon laser vers celle-ci. Ce rayon est ensuite réfléchi et reçu par l’appareil, qui mesure alors la température de l’huile. Cette étude permettra de prédire l’âge de l’huile isolante des transformateurs haute tension, ce qui réduira les coûts de maintenance de ces derniers.
