Ce livre consiste en une analyse comparative du cycle de vie (ACV), du berceau à la tombe, de trois sources d’énergie et de leurs impacts environnementaux. L’évaluation a été réalisée conformément aux normes ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) (ISO 14040:2006 et ISO 14044:2006), en utilisant la base de données Ecoinvent dans le logiciel openLCA 1.10.3. Le champ d’application de l’évaluation définit des étapes spécifiques dans chaque système énergétique, en excluant les étapes de construction, d’installation des équipements et de mise hors service des centrales pour les trois technologies de production d’énergie. Un mégawattheure (1 MWh) de production d’électricité est défini comme l’unité fonctionnelle de cette évaluation, puisque la production d’électricité est la fonction principale des trois systèmes énergétiques. Cette évaluation adopte la version hiérarchique (H) de l’étude d’impact ReCiPe.
