Die Tatsache, dass die Erwachsenenbildung von entscheidender Bedeutung ist, kann nicht genug betont werden. Infolgedessen haben einige Länder wie Sambia Alphabetisierungsstrategien für Erwachsene entwickelt, die speziell auf Randgruppen zugeschnitten sind und das Potenzial haben, alle potenziellen Teilnehmer zu erreichen. Tatsächlich ist die Alphabetisierung ein grundlegender Schritt in Richtung jeder Form der Erwachsenenbildung. Trotz der Bemühungen, den Analphabetismus unter Erwachsenen zu beseitigen, nehmen Männer nicht an Alphabetisierungsprogrammen für Erwachsene teil, was Anlass zur Sorge gibt. Wenn das Problem des Analphabetismus unter Männern nicht angegangen wird, könnte dies ein großes Hindernis für die angestrebte nationale Entwicklung darstellen.
