La sessualità in Africa è molto complessa, segnata da sfide e progressi, soprattutto con l’avvento della colonizzazione. È difficile identificare le culture negro-africane e ciò che è stato importato o preso in prestito. Questo studio esamina i fattori socio-culturali che influenzano le consultazioni mediche nelle aree urbane e rurali di Bandundu, nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo.L’obiettivo è capire come i tabù, le credenze tradizionali e le norme sociali influenzino i comportamenti di ricerca della salute. Lo studio ha combinato metodi descrittivi e analitici per fornire un quadro dettagliato dei determinanti socio-culturali e demografici.Una disciplina poco conosciuta in ambito urbano-rurale, così come la mancanza di dati documentati sull’argomento, ci hanno motivato a realizzare questa indagine.
