Este livro trata da conceção e implementação de um compensador síncrono estático (STATCOM) baseado num conversor de fonte de tensão multinível, utilizando técnicas de controlo de modulação de largura de impulso sinusoidal (SPW). O principal objetivo deste livro é manter a estabilidade da tensão no sistema de energia utilizando um conversor multinível baseado no STATCOM. Por conseguinte, é utilizado um novo STATCOM multinível modular simétrico para reduzir as flutuações de tensão, como as condições de afundamento e ondulação, e também para isolar os harmónicos de corrente e tensão no sistema de transmissão. O STATCOM multinível é utilizado no ponto de acoplamento comum (PCC).
