As moscas tsé-tsé (Diptera: Glossinidae) são insectos hematófagos pertencentes ao género Glossina da família Glossinidae. Estas moscas encontram-se exclusivamente nas regiões tropicais de África e desempenham um papel importante como vectores da tripanossomíase africana, afectando tanto o gado como os seres humanos. Foram implementadas várias estratégias de controlo contra as moscas tsé-tsé, incluindo a destruição de habitats de animais selvagens, a limpeza de arbustos, aplicações de insecticidas no solo e no ar, a técnica do inseto estéril (SIT), métodos de armadilhagem e a aplicação de insecticidas no gado ou em iscos artificiais conhecidos como alvos. Esta revisão tem como objetivo fornecer uma visão geral da distribuição, ecologia, comportamento e funções de transmissão de doenças das espécies de moscas tsé-tsé, bem como avaliar estratégias de controlo integrado.
