Noninvasive estimation of myocardial electricalactivity traditionally used potential measurements onthe human body surface, such as body surfacepotentials(BSPs, pl.) or electrocardiograms (ECGs,pl.). But because of non-unique mapping betweenmyocardial electrophysiological activity and sparsebody potential measurements, the performances ofprevious efforts have not been well accepted. In thisbook, a different aspect to understand myocardialelectrophysiological activity is established for thefirst time: since the mechanical activity of themyocardium is mainly driven by myocardialelectrophysiological activity, patient-specificmyocardial kinematic measures should, indirectly, reflect the propagation of cardiac transmembranepotential(TMP). Coupling the physiological modelingof myocardial electro-mechanical behavior on themeshfree particle representation, my proposed inverseapproach recovers myocardial electrophysiologicalactivity from medical image sequences throughregularization or Kalman filter with favor results.
