An Autobiography

'An Autobiography' by Benedetto Croce is a profound exploration of the intellectual and spiritual evolution of one of Italy’s most significant thinkers. Writing with the clarity and rigor that defined his career, Croce traces the development of his philosophical system, known as the Philosophy of the Spirit. This work offers an intimate look at the formation of his ideas regarding aesthetics, logic, historiography, and ethics, situating them within the broader context of European intellectual life at the turn of the 20th century.Rather than a mere chronological account of external events, the narrative focuses on the inner life and the rigorous mental discipline that shaped Croce’s worldview. He reflects on his transition from a youthful student of history to a world-renowned philosopher and champion of liberal values. For students of philosophy, history, and Italian culture, 'An Autobiography' provides essential context for understanding the man behind some of the most influential works of the modern era. This volume serves as both a personal testament and a roadmap to the critical developments in modern continental philosophy, capturing the essence of a life dedicated to the pursuit of truth and the preservation of culture. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
