Ambrose Jackson is dragged reluctantly from his successful career as a journalist and author through the depths of despair and into a resistance movement in which he rises rapidly as a leader and fighter for diversity and freedom. His journey of self-discovery is one of turmoil, betrayal, grief, humour, and excitement as he enters the world of the pro-democracy resistance. Ambrose sees and experiences unimaginable brutality and cruelty but his resolve to fight is strengthened by his love of Desiree and the comradeship of Malachi.
