Untersuchungen zur Amnestie in Brasilien und Argentinien, die sich am neuesten Trend in der Erforschung historischer Fakten, der Global History, orientieren. Im gesamten Buch werden die Argumente beider Seiten der Debatte in beiden Ländern dargestellt. Die Analyse des internationalen Einflusses auf die Prozesse des Übergangs zur Demokratie in den beiden Ländern zieht sich durch das gesamte Werk. Zunächst wird die Entwicklung der Denkschulen in der Geschichte untersucht, um die Theorie der Globalgeschichte besser zu verstehen. Danach wird die Diskussion über Amnestie in Brasilien dargestellt, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf der internationalen Dimension der Debatte liegt, einschließlich der Beurteilung des Amnestiegesetzes durch den Bundesgerichtshof (STF). Anschließend wird die Amnestiedebatte in Argentinien vorgestellt, ebenfalls mit internationalem Fokus, und die Entscheidung des Obersten Gerichtshofs zu diesem Thema präsentiert. Abschließend wird festgestellt, dass die brasilianische Auffassung von Übergangsjustiz geändert werden muss.
