'Amazing Rhyme, The Curl,' is the second book of the new 'Amazing Rhyme: A Read and Rhyme Book' series. All the books in this new series are written as story rhymes and based on lessons about developing good character. This book, 'Amazing Rhyme, The Curl,' has a central theme of self-esteem. The first book of the series 'Amazing Rhyme, Know-It-All Nora,' focuses on the skills of listening and responsibility, and the third book will focus on bullying. This series will inspire your child to be invested in their learning, as it boosts their oral language, rhyming and reading skills. Research has shown a direct correlation between rhyme and phonemic awareness achievement, which is the basic building block of all language. So without question, reading with rhyme helps to lay important groundwork for a child’s success in oral language, reading and writing. When a child says and uses a word that fits into the scheme of the rhyme, they are propagating their skill of prediction. There is nothing like reading a story rhyme and having your child joyfully yell out the final rhyming word before you can say it. Rhyme also promotes and nurtures higher level thinking skills, such as predicting what comes next in a story, as well as developmental judgment and decision making skills. Reading in rhyme also lets your child experience the rhythm of language. It promotes reading and speaking with expression and animated voices, as it provides a sense of security and confidence through its rhythm and predictability. The bright colorful images combined with the rhyming text are a winning combination that will capture and hold your child’s interest. Overall, this book, 'Amazing Rhyme: The Curl,' of the 'Read And Rhyme Book' series will provide a positive environment that promotes discussion about building positive character traits and will help to increase your child’s confidence. The Parent Page, included in this book, contains additional activities that will help to enrich your child’s rhyming skills. So sit back and relax while you enjoy this fun learning experience with your child.
