Die meisten älteren Menschen sind Frauen. Doch dies findet in der gerontologischen Forschung und Literatur (noch) nicht hinreichend Beachtung. Der vorliegende Sammelband möchte dieses Defizit vermindern und rückt älter werdende wie ältere Frauen und ihre heterogenen Lebenslagen explizit in den Mittelpunkt der Betrachtung. Neun Wissenschaftlerinnen legen den Forschungsstand und den daraus resultierenden Handlungsbedarf im Hinblick auf unterschiedliche Gruppen älter werdender und älterer Frauen (z.B. behinderte Frauen, pflegende Frauen) sowie wesentliche Aspekte ihrer Lebenssituation (z.B. Einkommenssituation, Konsumverhalten) dar. Ziel dieses Buches ist es, die Vielfalt des weiblichen Alterns zu verdeutlichen und auf weiteren Forschungsbedarf aufmerksam zu machen.
