ALLEVAMENTO E SVILUPPO RURALE: Da anni, l’allevamento del bestiame è percepito come una delle principali attività economiche che contribuiscono a promuovere lo sviluppo, soprattutto nelle aree rurali. In Camerun, la crescita e la diffusione di questa attività sono state favorite dall’attuazione di politiche governative volte a migliorare il benessere della popolazione. L’allevamento di Ndokayo, oggetto di questo studio, è stato istituito dal governo del Camerun con la creazione della Società per lo sviluppo del bestiame (SODEPA) nel 1974, con il decreto presidenziale n. 74/182 dell’8 marzo 1974. L’obiettivo era quello di incrementare la qualità e la quantità della produzione di bestiame e di alleviare la povertà attraverso la creazione di opportunità di lavoro nell’area di Ndokayo. Lo studio si concentra quindi sull’allevamento di bestiame di Ndokayo e sul suo contributo alla promozione dello sviluppo socioeconomico della zona di studio. Alla luce di quanto detto, lo studio sostiene che la presenza dell’allevamento di bestiame, attraverso le sue diverse attività, ha svolto un ruolo importante nello sviluppo dell’area di Ndokayo.
