The story recounts the story of a young man who begins life as a guerrilla soldier on Triadore and is wounded. and immigrates to Earth. He is young in appearance, but much older and wiser than he appears. After arriving on Earth, he finds he is ill-fitted to a school and leaves, later having to fight a drug cartel to survive. He takes the identity of a young man the drug cartel killed, and to escape, joins the US army. He is trained as a sniper and serves in the Vietnam War. He secures an appointment to West Point and becomes the first alien to attend the prestigious military academy. After graduation, he serves on the 'dark side' of the US military, fighting the drug cartels across South America.
