Née au Maroc de souche nord-africaine et catalane, anthropologue Hélène Hagan, munie de diplômes d’études supérieures de la Faculté des Lettres de Bordeaux et de l’Université de Stanford aux Etats-Unis, conduit ses lecteurs dans un voyage de découvertes à travers les dédales d’une Égypte antique. Elle est aidée dans son enquête étymologique par des collègues amazighes experts en linguistique berbère. Cette étude sans pareille établit de nombreuses similarités toponymiques et d’importantes croyances, traditions et mythologies semblables entre les anciens habitants de la rive occidentale du Nil et des oasis égyptiennes et les groupes berbères d’Afrique du Nord et du Sahara.
