Dieses Buch ist ein praktischer Leitfaden zur Ermittlung des akademischen Lesebedarfs von Englischlehrern an der ISCED-Huíla, einer höheren Lehrerbildungseinrichtung in Lubango, Angola. Das Buch ist in fünf Teile gegliedert. Erstens beschreibt es den Schwerpunkt dieser Forschungsstudie und die Gründe dafür und bettet sie in den breiteren angolanischen Bildungskontext ein. Zweitens werden verschiedene wissenschaftliche Studien zur Bedarfsanalyse im Bereich Englisch für akademische Zwecke (EAP), zum Leseprozess in der Zweitsprache und im EAP sowie zur Gestaltung von Programmen zur akademischen Alphabetisierung vorgestellt. Drittens werden methodologische Fragen der Studie erörtert. Viertens werden die Ergebnisse der Hauptstudie beschrieben und erörtert. Schließlich werden die Schlussfolgerungen und Empfehlungen vorgestellt. Es ist zu hoffen, dass die Ergebnisse der Studie Fachleuten für EAP-Lesen und Lehrerausbildern, insbesondere in Entwicklungsländern, bei der Auswahl, Anpassung und Gestaltung von Lehrerausbildungsprogrammen, -materialien und -aufgaben zur Verbesserung der akademischen Lese- und Schreibfähigkeiten in ihren Einrichtungen, in denen Englisch als Fremdsprache unterrichtet wird, eine Hilfe sein werden.
