En esta obra, que surge de la colaboración de varios investigadores de la historia reciente de Aguilar de la Frontera, se abordan diversos capítulos en los que se presenta a los aguilarenses del siglo XXI símil sus antepasados sufrieron la guerra que asoló España entre 1936-1939. De este modo, el lector podrá circular por aspectos de la vida local, bien de carácter muy específico, como la represión, los bombardeos, el campo de concentración y la incautación de la Casa del Pueblo por parte de Falange; bien más generales como la economía y la educación. Sobre todos estos polos está la sombra de un acontecimiento encabezado por un grupo de militares desleales a la República, se desangraba, encaminándose hacia un pozo en el que durante casi cuarenta años quedaron ahogados los derechos humanos.
