After the Rain jumps in where Ar’ Back Yard finished, and continues the story of Chopper and Manchester from the eighties into nineties. However following that fateful day at Spike Island, and whilst they are mourning the loss of a close friend and yet still riding high on a wave of continued prosperity, enjoying life to its fullest, burden’s associated with the dark nature of the business continue to advance upon Chopper and Prey, arriving in the form of old adversities from neighbouring Salford, which sees Manchester and the surrounding areas drawn into a series of unwanted turf wars. But the anxiety from such battles proves to be only one of their problems: an investigation is soon underway into their activities which have expanded beyond the estate to city limits. An investigation which will see the involvement of Manchester’s Serious Crimes Squad, and to make matter worse still, the investigators appear to have finally discovered a way inside what has been up until then an impregnable group. It soon appears that everybody from the criminals to the law are closing in on their goals.

Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
