'The book ''New Construction of Ancient Chinese'' utilizes new achievements in the fields of Chinese dialects, ethnic loanwords, and ancient scripts in recent years, and systematically introduces the method of historical comparison into the construction of ancient Chinese. This book advocates that the construction of ancient sounds should follow the ''hypothesis deduction'' method, which involves deducing sound change hypotheses from limited materials, enabling the onomatopoeic system to have a certain predictive ability, and systematically applying the historical comparison method to the construction of initial consonants and prepositions based on new materials such as unearthed bamboo slips, ancient dialects, and early Chinese loanwords in ethnic languages. It starts from the perspective of syllable structure, and elaborates on the author’s views on various issues of ancient phonetics from several aspects such as initial consonants, finals, and tones. In terms of material application, internal Chinese materials (such as homophones, homophones, unearthed documents, ancient Chinese characters, etc.) are combined with external materials (Miao Yao, Dong Tai, Tibetan Burmese and other ethnic languages), emphasizing the use of modern Chinese dialects as evidence, especially absorbing Jerry Lee Norman’s construction of ''primitive Min language''.
