Os registos fiscais electrónicos foram introduzidos pela Autoridade Tributária do Quénia para aumentar os seus esforços de cobrança de impostos no país. No entanto, houve uma resistência geral à tecnologia por parte das empresas e os estabelecimentos hoteleiros não foram uma exceção, apesar de a indústria do turismo estar na vanguarda da adoção de tecnologia. Para avaliar os factores que influenciaram a adoção de tecnologia pelas empresas hoteleiras no condado de Uasin Gishu, o autor aplicou o quadro Tecnologia - Organização - Ambiente, a teoria da difusão da inovação e a teoria unificada da aceitação e utilização da tecnologia para explicar a intenção dos estabelecimentos hoteleiros de utilizar a tecnologia. Após a análise dos dados, verificou-se que os recursos disponíveis para as empresas, o nível de formação do pessoal e a adoção da tecnologia pelos concorrentes eram factores determinantes. O livro fornece muitas informações sobre a adoção de tecnologias com base legislativa.
