Adelmorn, The Outlaw: A Romantic Drama, In Three Acts is a play written by Matthew Gregory Lewis and first published in 1801. The play is set in medieval England and tells the story of Adelmorn, a nobleman who is forced to become an outlaw after being falsely accused of treason by his jealous cousin, Sir Bertram. Adelmorn falls in love with a peasant girl named Rosalind, but their love is threatened by the machinations of Sir Bertram and his allies. The play is a classic example of the Romantic genre, with its emphasis on emotion, passion, and the supernatural. It features a cast of colorful characters, including a wise old hermit, a band of outlaws, and a scheming villain. The play’s themes include love, betrayal, revenge, and the struggle between good and evil. Adelmorn, The Outlaw is a timeless tale of love and adventure that continues to captivate audiences to this day. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
