Este livro apresenta a motivação geral dos alunos de línguas e as actividades e técnicas que os professores utilizam para motivar os alunos com diferentes níveis de proficiência a falar. As percepções dos professores de língua inglesa de alunos estrangeiros no curso PEAP da Universidade Nottingham Trent formaram a base da pesquisa.Eu notei que minha proficiência na fala melhorou desde que cheguei no Reino Unido. Com base na minha pesquisa, as atividades mais usadas com todos os níveis nas aulas de conversação são apresentação e discussão. Elas funcionaram muito bem com alunos com um alto nível de proficiência em inglês. O trabalho em grupo e em pares são técnicas aplicadas para os três níveis, e parecem afectá-los positivamente. Assim, os professores devem estar conscientes da motivação de seus alunos para aprender inglês e explorar isso em seus materiais didáticos. É melhor incluir a cultura inglesa em algumas aulas, garantir que os alunos se sintam seguros na sala de aula para contribuir facilmente, e ser fluentes.
