Achilles In Scyros is a novel written by Robert Bridges and published in 1892. The story revolves around the mythological character of Achilles, the Greek hero of the Trojan War. The novel portrays Achilles as a young man who is living in disguise on the island of Scyros, in order to avoid being drafted into the Trojan War. As the story progresses, Achilles falls in love with Deidamia, the daughter of the king of Scyros, and they start a romantic relationship. However, when the Greeks come to Scyros in search of Achilles, he is forced to reveal his true identity and join the war. The novel explores themes of love, duty, and sacrifice, as Achilles is torn between his love for Deidamia and his duty to fight in the war. The book also portrays the complex relationships between the Greek gods and their mortal counterparts, adding a layer of mythology to the story. Overall, Achilles In Scyros is a classic tale of love and war, with a unique twist on the story of Achilles. This Book Is In English. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
