'Even with a legal code in hand, it may not necessarily be possible to make judgments in accordance with the law. Sometimes, it relies on law enforcers to use emotions, reasoning, and courtesy to make up for the shortcomings of the law. This book focuses on monks and concubines with special identities, attempting to discover various human factors that influenced the judiciary of the Song Dynasty. It breaks down major issues into several small ones, focusing on exploring the impact of the religious identity of monks and the family identity of concubines. From the perspective of judges, it comprehensively considers the complexity of judges making judgments. Based on the analysis of legal codes and cases, this article elaborates on the disputes that occurred during the judicial process, as well as the fate, daily life, common concepts, and subconscious ideas of people at that time. From a judicial perspective, it uses interdisciplinary knowledge exchange and communication to directly explore the deep context of traditional Chinese governance.
