Die Abwesenheit am Arbeitsplatz, aus welchem Grund auch immer, ist ein ernstzunehmender Indikator für die Qualität der Versorgung der Nutzer von Gesundheitsdiensten, da sie zu einer Verringerung der Produktivität der anwesenden Fachkräfte sowie zu höheren Betriebskosten führt. In diesem Sinne beleuchtet das vorliegende Buch das Profil der Fehlzeiten von Arbeitnehmern eines Krankenhauses im Landesinneren von Rio Grande do Sul (RS) im Jahr 2012 und stellt berufliche Merkmale, das Profil der Arbeitnehmer und die Gründe für die Fehlzeiten dar. Angesichts der hohen Zahl und der Bedeutung der Fehlzeiten in allen Bereichen, die sowohl für Arbeitgeber als auch für Arbeitnehmer nachteilig sind, kann die vorliegende Arbeit zunächst dazu beitragen, das Profil der Fehlzeiten im Krankenhaus zu verstehen, damit wirksame Maßnahmen zu ihrer Minimierung ergriffen werden können.
