In view of the controversy that arises when the subject of abortion comes up, the author, based on his experience, brings to light different perspectives that he considers important for the reader to discern. In the introduction, he clarifies the use of the terms abortion and miscarriage, and elucidates which types of surgery can be established. It highlights the medical opinion that it is considered a safe process. It considers ethical aspects and the patient’s right to decide in accordance with her autonomy. It discusses how the beginning of life is considered in the cultures of different societies and other aspects that it deems pertinent. It focuses on how the major religions on the planet deal with the matter, and how peoples with different legislations judge the participants in this practice, as well as bringing several examples of the importance of discussion and positioning of abortion in political and social life. This is a matter for women and doctors, but it is punished by priests following the dogmas of different churches and by jurists obeying the laws voted for by politicians in various parliaments.
