This book examines the ongoing debate over reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians, highlighting the persistent challenges of racial division, discrimination and disadvantage. Despite important achievements, progress towards national reconciliation has been slow and uneven, underscoring the need for approaches capable of fostering lasting unity.Drawing on three documents presenting the Baha’i perspective, the book argues that reconciliation cannot be fully effective or enduring unless both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples actively participate in applying universal spiritual principles. Central to this approach is the Baha’i understanding of humanity as fundamentally spiritual and the belief that lasting solutions to social divisions must address the human spirit. The book explores the principles of the oneness of humanity and unity in diversity as foundations for overcoming racism, strengthening mutual understanding and building a more harmonious Australian society. It offers a distinctive spiritual perspective on reconciliation and the shared responsibilities of all Australians in achieving it.
