季蕉森博士是在他退休後開始寫作的。他將累積約七十篇作品，分親情、友情、憶往、旅遊、傳記、心聲、與隨筆等卷，成為《一個不平凡人的自述》一書。它的初版於二〇一〇年在臺灣付梓，原來是一本非賣品，著者分贈給他的親朋好友留念，以及下列相關圖書館典藏：中華民國國立中央圖書館、國史館、國立臺灣大學圖書館、臺北市立成功高級中學圖書館、美國國會圖書館、美國馬里蘭州蒙郡圖書館（九個）。此版為再版，蒐羅一百篇作品，其中三十九篇是初版後的新作；除此之外，還包括三篇著者原作的英文翻譯。季蕉森 博士，1934年出生於中國江蘇省鎮江焦山，祖籍中國浙江省溫州市，1956年國立臺灣大學機械工程學士畢業，美國馬里蘭大學（University of Maryland）航空工程碩士、美國喬治華盛頓大學（George Washington University）理學博士。曾任職於美國IBM, 美國通訊衛星公司(COMSAT), 美國海軍部SPAWAR等機構，1999年退休。
