说'东方专制主义'是为了给国民'治水'，这并不是成功的历史学叙事，至少中国历史并非如此。我的导师赵俪生先生曾因宣传'亚细亚生产方式'而被整，但他也明确指出，'亚细亚'特征最浓的先秦三代并不是什么'水利社会'。马克思以'农村公社'作为东方专制基础的说法也一 样，专制中国的夫妻父子都可以异财，何谈村社？但百姓私产确实得不到保护⸺不是什么自给自足的村社限制他们的产权，而是极力消灭小共同体的皇权可以随意把这些原子化小民的财产给'国有化'：从'一小二私'到'一大二公'，只是一步之遥。 ⸺秦 晖 本书记述的内容完全不可能为现在的中国原封不动地接受，对这一点的认识，我比任何人都清楚。岂止如此， 我甚至想到，即使在日本的学术界、舆论界，它被接受也要带着极大的别扭感，这是无论如何也无法避免的。因此，出版此书，对作为一个其言说空间与中国的言说空间多有连动的日本的中国研究者的笔者来说，可以说简直就像豁出政治生命的一大挑战。 ⸺石井知章
