It explores the eternal laws of cause and effect, the survival of the soul, and the redemptive power of forgiveness.Nina Braga is a young, devoted woman whose life shatters when her boyfriend, André Cerqueira César, abandons her upon learning she is pregnant. Influenced by his ambitious mother, André marries Janete, a wealthy society woman, trading true love for social prestige. Heartbroken and fueled by a desire for revenge, Nina vows to succeed on her own. She keeps the existence of her son, Marcos, a secret, telling him his father is dead. Through sheer determination, she works her way up to become a brilliant lawyer at the prestigious firm of Dr. Antônio Dantas.Years later, André is trapped in an unhappy, empty marriage. When he crosses paths with the now-successful Nina, he is struck by regret and the realization that his vanity cost him his only chance at happiness. As André tries to uncover the truth about his past, he discovers he has a nine-year-old son. However, Nina, hardened by years of resentment, coldly rejects him, refusing to let him near the boy.Parallel to this romantic conflict, the novel delves deep into spiritual mysteries. When Nina’s coworker, Antônia, tragically takes her own life, her suffering spirit begins to appear in Nina’s dreams, begging for help. Antônia’s orphaned son, Eriberto, is in grave danger from Olívia, a cruel relative who orchestrates a sinister kidnapping plot to steal the boy’s inheritance.Guided by Dr. Dantas and his highly developed medium daughter, Marta, Nina is drawn into the Spiritist doctrine. Through powerful mediumistic sessions, the characters learn about their past-life karmic debts and the reality of life after death. With Nina’s help and spiritual intervention, Antônia’s son is saved and reunited with his rightful father, Antero.Witnessing these spiritual truths, André undergoes a profound awakening. He leaves his loveless marriage and dedicates himself to redeeming his past mistakes. Inspired by the enlightened spirits and the examples of those around her, Nina must finally confront her own pride. She must decide whether to hold on to the anger that drove her success or open her heart to forgiveness. Ultimately, A True Love is a triumphant celebration of unconditional love, proving that while human pride may separate soulmates on Earth, divine justice and genuine repentance will always guide them back together.
