On the surface it is a story about a man and his dog traveling and discovering the world around them. But it is more than that. This story is about finding your way in a strange new place and trying to fit in as an outsider. It is about love and grand adventures filled with danger and excitement. It has times full of joy and fun, but it also deals with loss and difficulties.Mostly it is a book about life, and will have you laughing, crying and glad you came along with the adventure. In November 2008, Randy Snow pitched over the handlebars of his motorcycle and skidded 80 feet across the pavement, shredding his left leg and foot. Then his company laid him off. Injured, depressed, and unemployed, he applied for a new job with a software company headquartered in Switzerland-and soon, he found himself on an airplane over the Atlantic, traveling to a new life in Europe. This is the story of Randy’s bewildering, hilarious, and often embarrassing adventures as he explores his new continent in the company of his trusted sidekick Cowboy, his one-blue-eyed, one-brown-eyed rescue mutt. Together, these two Texans discover some little-known Swiss secrets, like church bells don’t always mean a fire and trash collection is far more mysterious than just taking out the garbage, all while sampling the bewildering array of Swiss bureaucracy and the magnificence of the Matterhorn. And through the dangers of the snow-capped Alps and the pitfalls of German grammar, Randy and Cowboy learn there’s one thing that can fix just about any problem: a really top-notch gelato. Gelato, that is- and the love of a good woman.  Whether you’re planning a trip to Switzerland or you’d rather just read about it from someone who’s made the mistakes for you and got the T-shirt to prove it, A Texan’s Adventure in Switzerland goes down like a hot plate of Käsespätzle: delicious, authentic, and sometimes impossible to pronounce.
