回顾我这80来年的经历，在中国生活了57年，“洋插队”到加拿大也已25年。不同社会制度的国家和工农商学兵等行当我都亲身体验过，阅历可能比绝大多数的中国人都要丰富很多。我把这些现在还能回忆起来的、自己经历过的事物和一些内心的活动，用文字如实地记录下来，是认为通过对自己生活经历的系统回顾，可能对个人的历史有更全面的认识和新的感悟，从而使以后的生活过得更明白、更好一些。我以往由于纪律限制等原因，很少对亲友和孩子们具体谈自己过去的经历，离世前留下个较翔实的记录，会有助于他们具体了解我们这一代人的生活状况，也算是个人对子孙后代的一种历史交待。
