A Summer of Static is a cozy, sci-fi novella that takes place in Charlotte, NC, in the year 2100. The book follows Purcell being woken up out of a simulation against their will and learning that they’re not a human being like they thought. They’re actually a robot. They spend the summer deciding to fight to be recognized as a sentient person or go back into a simulation to escape the real world.
