The central theme of this non-fiction book is a critical examination of our lifestyles in this current era. J D Milaric offers his perceived wisdom on a whole range of issues that all people confront like the state of the financial system, political matters, healthcare, environmental considerations, welfare benefits, sexual activities, social matters, law and order, the family unit, Europe, religion and a whole host of others are also covered here. J D Milaric believes that everyone is affected by and should have an input as to how our society operates whether as a commuter, taxpayer, welfare claimant, jobseeker, parent or student. A major contention that comes out of the book is that politicians, leaders and those generally in positions of power have not adequately grasped and acted upon the foremost factors of our time. Based upon the premise that many people are striving for a society that embodies at least some of the ideals that the author subscribes to, J D Milaric aims to galvanize all groups of people to think deeply about how we function in life and the core issues that impact on us all. The book seeks to tap into the collective wisdom that we have from living and for many people, surviving during such tumultuous times as the late 20th and early 21st Centuries. The publication relates the author’s views, grievances and concerns about society today and where possible, explains some simple strategies for dealing with them. The topics covered are specified in each chapter but are to a large extent interlinked as indeed are our lives. The author at times, upon considering the serious items involved, wished that the book could be categorised as fiction, but regrettably, the weighty subject matter covered precludes this classification. The problems which are addressed in this title are only too real and merit attention by all sections of society. J D Milaric is adamant that with proper engagement people from all walks of life can contribute towards achieving A SHIFT IN PARADIGM.
