Todas as revoluções têm a sua contrarrevolução, segundo os sociólogos. Para cada ação há uma reação, dizem os físicos. A Revolução Popular Sandinista (RPS) que triunfou em 19 de julho de 1979 teve também a sua respectiva contrarrevolução, que, criada e apoiada pelo governo dos EUA, começou, através da Agência Central de Inteligência, a reagrupar os remanescentes da Guarda Nacional derrotada, espalhados na Guatemala, El Salvador e Honduras, logo em agosto do mesmo ano, retirando de cena a família Somoza, para realizar as suas primeiras acções militares em dezembro de 1979. Segundo Manuel Espinoza Jarquín, só em 1980 houve 99 agressões armadas da contrarrevolução Somoza e do exército hondurenho. Mas a agressão militar durou 10 anos, daí o título deste livro, La revolución sandinista y su heroica defensa, com o subtítulo: un Playa Girón de diez años.
