A luta contra a impunidade destes crimes internacionais e a sua repressão são objectivos perseguidos pela comunidade internacional, tal como esta se propôs após as duas guerras mundiais.Apesar dos progressos registados na repressão e na luta contra a impunidade destes crimes, ainda não há nada que proteja as pessoas, especialmente os civis, destas atrocidades.Este livro analisa as falhas na prática da justiça internacional e faz uma análise jurisprudencial para mostrar que os chamados crimes internacionais não foram punidos de forma exemplar.Embora a base da repressão internacional seja a criação de jurisdições internacionais repressivas, uma das principais fraquezas da justiça penal internacional na sua luta contra a impunidade é a falta de criação suficiente de jurisdições internacionais. A sua criação não é acompanhada por uma determinação efectiva das sanções aplicáveis e, sobretudo, por uma falta de vontade dos Estados em aderir aos tratados que as criam.
