Durante a Idade de Ouro islâmica (séculos VIII a XIV), os estudiosos do mundo islâmico embarcaram numa missão de preservação, reinterpretação e desenvolvimento do património filosófico da Grécia antiga. No centro deste renascimento intelectual esteve o movimento de tradução greco-árabe em Bagdade, onde figuras-chave como Al-Kindī introduziram o pensamento filosófico grego no mundo islâmico, lançando as bases para uma síntese única das ideias aristotélicas e neoplatónicas com a teologia islâmica. Filósofos notáveis, como Al-Farabi e Avicena, expandiram a filosofia grega, adaptando conceitos de lógica, metafísica e teoria política para responder às necessidades espirituais e intelectuais do contexto islâmico. Através das suas obras, não só enriqueceram o pensamento islâmico, como também criaram uma ponte para o mundo ocidental, onde as suas ideias viriam a desempenhar um papel fundamental no desenvolvimento do escolasticismo na Europa medieval. O presente documento analisa os métodos através dos quais os filósofos islâmicos preservaram e transformaram a filosofia grega, os debates teológicos e cosmológicos que deram forma a este legado intelectual e a transmissão destas ideias ao Ocidente, salientando, em última análise, o profundo impacto do pensamento islâmico nas tradições intelectuais islâmicas e ocidentais.
