This essay offers a new interpretation of Chrétien’s Conte del Graal that includes both an epilogue and a foreword in which the author defends his work. The author’s approach is to offer a more consistent solution to understanding the Grail by assuming that neither the successors of Chrétien nor the authors of other Grail works had knowledge of the Grail’s original meaning.
