Black art is fertile ground from which the rest of the world was created. A Matter of Radical Pushback is a theopoetic about tracing a faith that resists pervasive hegemonic imaginations. In the contemporary Black arts movement, artists show and tell the healing and generating possibility of speaking, teaching, and archiving from one’s Black identity—a phenomenon called Black Imagination Politics. It is an expression defined in this work as the cultural state that prioritizes the lived experiences and artistic expressions of Black people globally. This book poetically shares the importance of Black art and culture in movements for social change. The methods and praxis emerged from examining Black art through poetry allows readers and viewers an opportunity to reshape hegemonic imagination and shift cultural understanding and policies toward Blackness defined by joy and quality of survival. 6
