A luta contra a pobreza na dinâmica local de urbanização nos Camarões: o caso de Yaoundé, é o tema que foi submetido ao nosso estudo. As muitas questões levantadas pelo desejo de resolver o problema causado por um tema tão actual levaram-nos a problematizar ao perguntarmo-nos: que lugar ocupa a luta contra a pobreza no processo de urbanização? Será que este lugar permite estruturar localmente a percepção dos actores do desenvolvimento urbano e orientar (ou dar sentido) à acção pública? Como resposta a esta pergunta, declarámos hipoteticamente que a luta contra a pobreza é um ponto de referência que estrutura cada vez mais o processo de urbanização local. Com efeito, está gradualmente a ser colocada no centro do desenvolvimento urbano como uma preocupação permanente de todos os actores, e harmoniza as várias acções de urbanização.
