'A Hundred Light Years' by Leila Naseri is a heartfelt tribute to the enduring legacy of Iran and the Pahlavi dynasty, marking the centennial anniversary of its establishment. Drawing on the richness of Iran’s ancient past from the Pishdadian and Achaemenid empires to the modern achievements of the Pahlavi era this unique book blends visual and musical artistry to celebrate a century of progress, pride, and national identity. In two distinct parts, the book presents a collection of newly designed commemorative medals and insignias inspired by Iran’s historical symbols, illustrated by Armin Dara, followed by original music compositions, operas, concertos, and songs created by Leila Naseri to echo the spirit and aesthetics of the nation’s heritage. The first section presents medals, insignias and orders inspired by the historical symbols of ancient Iran. Designed in collaboration with the esteemed artist Mr. Armin Dara, these pieces commemorate the centennial of the Pahlavi monarchy. Rooted in the artistic and historical grandeur of Iran from the Achaemenids Empire (550-330 BCE) to the modern era, each insignia has been meticulously crafted with scholarly precision. Every piece tells a story of greatness woven into the fabric of Iran’s history and culture, offered with pride to the Pahlavi royal family. The second section is dedicated to music compositions created to complement the insignias. These works, ranging from opera and concerto to song, are shaped by the aesthetic and cultural heritage of Iran. Each piece narrates a unique story, aligning harmoniously with the designs to form a seamless fusion of visual and auditory art. Together, they recount the grandeur of Iran’s past and present, leaving an enduring impression on the soul of the listener.Born after the fall of the monarchy, the author reflects on how the brilliance of that golden age still reaches us like light from a distant star delayed, yet illuminating. This work is both an offering to the royal family and a call to all Iranians to remember, cherish, and carry forward the glory of their homeland. This book is a reflection of that lingering light.
