Herein are theories, diverse perspectives on poverty, insights into poverty’s root causes and measures for tackling the global scourge. Poverty is multidimensional, global and national. In the USA, it is shaped by national and state politics. Globally, culprits include poor governance and an entrenched extractive global system. The latter is mediated (in part) by multilateral entities like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and multinational business malfeasance.
